A second win at Sunshine Coast for Ad Finem

Ad Finem (Fastnet Rock x Quilly Park’s Avienus) won his second race, a handicap over 1,400m on Sunday October 15th at the Sunshine Coast Turf Club.

The race was unusual in that no one wanted to take the lead so the pace was incredibly slow. Playing back the video you’ll hear the commentator saying ‘They are walking in front here’ then ‘you could go out there and run quicker yourself!’

Trainer, Trevor Rogers said, ‘The horse pulled up terrific as it was only a 600m sprint home.

‘It’s tough to know how to rate this one as he was given the race but at the end of the day it’s a win and we’ll take it.

‘I’ll be looking for a race in the near future as Sunday was like a barrier trial for him. Plus, I want to take advantage of the wet tracks while they are around.’

Quilly Park’s Managing Director Richard Anderson commented, ‘In a ridiculously slow race Jackson rode to instruction. I couldn’t be more pleased for the horse and Trevor. I’d like to thank Ad Finem’s owners for giving us the time to let him develop. It looks like he’s going to be a 5 year old.’

‘The horse didn’t have any problem handing the heavy track, he skipped across the top of it.

‘No one wanted to take the lead so I decided to sit in front, go slow and sprint home knowing it would be hard for the others to run us down.’
