Avienus’ colt Ad Finem wins first time out

ad_finem_670x447Ad Finem won his first race, a three-year-old maiden over 1,000m first time out on Sunday November 6th at the Sunshine Coast Turf Club.

His time of 57.9 was just shy of the class record of 57.77 held by Bearskin who has chalked up two further wins since then.

Ad Finem is by Fastnet Rock out of Quilly Park’s Group winning mare Avienus.

Trainer, Trevor Rogers said, ‘I was impressed with Ad Finem’s effort, especially considering it was a bit too short for him. He still got the job done in a quick time.

‘He got his barrier ticket a while ago but wasn’t mature enough to go to the races as a two year old so we waited and it paid off.

ad_finem3_670x447‘He pulled up great and I’m hoping to race him again in 3 weeks or so.’

‘He had to race outside his comfort zone to put in the performance to win the race.

Horses don’t generally win in those circumstances so it was a great effort.’
