A busy month for the Quilly Park team

It’s been a busy month for the team and our horses at Quilly Park.

Goodbye to our first Champion!

Richard Anderson said a fond goodbye to Immortal Fire (feature photo) but was philosophical about the sale, “We purchased Harvey from Jason Cunningham and he bought him back after we accepted his offer. Everything is for sale at the right price and we’re open to offers going forward!”

“We’ll always remember our first Quilly Park Champion and Picnic Horse of the Year 2014-15.

You can’t keep them all when you run a business. Especially when our business is primarily focused on breeding.”

Richard Anderson – Managing Director, Quilly Park

It was sad to see Harvey go but he’ll be loved and treated with due respect in his new home.

We’re sure that Jason will keep the news coming as he’s planning to run him next season.

We wish both Jason and Harvey the best of luck!

Anantha joins Quilly Park’s string

On the same day that we said goodbye to Harvey, we welcomed Anantha to our string of racehorses.

Anantha won her maiden by 9 lengths. Her dam, Danetana (by Danehill) is a three-quarter sister to Fastnet Rock and a half-sister to Piccadilly Circus. Take a look at her pedigree:

After finding the mare, Richard Anderson and Trevor Rogers can’t wait to see what she’s capable of on the track and later as a broodmare.

She’s gone straight to pre-training and will be ready to race in Quilly Park’s colours soon.

Rubyone joins our broodmares

Rubyone retired from the race track and is ready for her next phase at Quilly Park as a broodmare.

Ruby (pictured, right) has given us much pleasure on the track and we’re excited to see whether her progeny will have the speed and toughness shown by her mother.

News round-up

Prince Kilkarlen at Hamilton
Prince Kilkarlen at Hamilton

Our horses are preparing for their Winter and Spring campaigns. Here’s a round-up of news.

Prince Kilkarlen is enjoying his Jumps campaign. He ran third this month at Hamilton, his first attempt over the hurdles.

Besanko Racing are doing a great job with him and he looks incredibly well, as you can see from the photo.

Friendwithbenefits trialled nicely a few days ago and should be running within the coming weeks.

Mystyko, another home bred by Sakhee’s Secret is a very exciting animal.

He keeps surprising Trevor Rogers and is hopefully a stayer in the making.

Avienus’ first foal by Fastnet Rock Ad Finem is currently at the Aquacizer undergoing water training.

Paul & Shiralee Maher with Three Handles

Over in Tasmania with Paul Maher, Three Handles ran third over 1100m at Hobart last week.

Impulsive Spirit will require another trial. We’re looking forward to seeing him run on rain affected tracks.

After running second in Adelaide Harami Cross,  our home bred by Street Boss was sent to the spelling paddock.

However she was doing so well she had to come straight back in. She trialled the other day and will need another.
