Quilly Park’s 2017 Matings

Feature image: Sun Stud’s Palentino

Quilly Park are expecting 10 foals on the ground later this year. The stallions were handpicked for our broodmares by pedigree expert Diane Neylon.

AVIENUS

Our Group 2 winning mare Avienus is in foal to dual Group 1 winner and first season sire Palentino. We are excited by this mating with Sun Stud’s fast miler from the Galileo male line.

Palentino is the best-performed son of Teofilo in Australia and won over $1.3m dollars during his career on the track.

ANAHATA

Anahata is in foal to Woodside Park’s Cable Bay. We are very keen to see what this match produces.

Cable Bay was the most popular first season sire in the UK in 2016 covering 152 mares, and the following year was the UK’s most popular second season sire covering 165.

FRIENDWITHBENEFITS and LADY LESEIG

We have two mares in foal to Spendthrift Farm’s Swear, Friendwithbenefits and Lady Lesieg.

Swear is by Redoute’s Choice, sire of current Australian champion sire Snitzel.

He was a winner first time out as a 2 year old then went on to win the Group 3 Ming Dynasty at Randwick and will have his first foals on the ground this year.

SIX MARES COVERED BY OUR STALLION DE GAULLE

Our new stallion De Gaulle covered six Quilly Park mares in 2017, Barabba Star, Great Cross, Plan the Peace, Rubyone, Tremolo and Varone.

De Gaulle, a half sister to Golden Slipper winner Estijaab, will have his first foals on the ground in 2018 and is standing at Bombora Downs Stud this season.

Thank you to Spendthrift Farm, Sun Stud and Woodside Park Stud for their kind permission to use images of their stallions.
