On Saturday, July 13th Dan Griffin rode 4 winners to victory at the Gold Coast Turf Club to clinch the Gold Coast Premiership for the ninth time.
One of Griffin’s wins that took his total to an untouchable 41 with a week still to go was on Amenzel in Quilly Park’s colours.
The 37-year-old gave the other hoops a three-month headstart after making an incredible comeback from a broken neck sufferered early last year.
It put his life and career under threat and looked to have ended his dream of reaching an incredible 10 jockeys premiership at the Gold Coast.
That dream is now firmly back on track, with the city’s most successful jockey thriving off the recently formed partnership with Gold Coast trainer Les Kelly.

Dan Griffin is no stranger to Quilly Park. In 2016 during our team bulding trip to Birdsville, he donated his saddle and breeches as an auction item in aid of our charity, the National Jockeys Trust.
With the help of boxing troupe legend Fred Brophy, Dan held the items high in front of an enormous crowd and raised a whopping $1,550 for the NJT. The prize went to the highest bidder, a delighted fan and NJT supporter Matthew Hilton.
