Third consecutive win for Mystyko

Mystyko won by a length over 1,100m in a BenchMark 78 at Caulfield on Saturday, February 2nd under Chelsea Hall.

This victory makes it a hat-trick of wins for our home-bred Plan the Peace gelding by Sakhee’s Secret.

In his post-race interview with Racing.com, Quilly Park’s Managing Director, Richard Anderson said, ‘Trevor and I work very closely and we have had a great relationship over the last 10 years.

‘I just love the way Trevor takes his time. He’s done an amazing job with his planning and strategies. When he says he’s going to target a race, he normally gets there.

‘All credit goes to Chelsea for the ride today, she did exactly what we asked her to do and got the result. Chelsea and the horse have a great relationship.

We think Mystyko’s got Group One potential, but he’s still 12 months away.

‘I’m rapt that the other owners have given us the time and patience to get the horse where we needed him to be.

‘Trevor mentioned to me this morning that we might go to the Oakleigh Plate, but I would prefer to go a Benchmark 90 and use Chelsea’s claim again and give him more confidence.

‘He’s entered for the Newmarket Handicap. He likes Caulfield but he hasn’t had a run up the straight here so that’s the negative of a Newmarket tilt.’

If we don’t over-tax him this time he’ll come back even stronger.

We’ll have a more mature, race savvy horse next prep.

Trevor Rogers, Trainer

Trainer Trevor Rogers said, ‘Mystyko just keeps improving, he’s getting bigger and stronger all the time. We’re not even at the end of his preparation yet so it will interesting to see where he goes.

‘If we don’t over-tax him this time he’ll come back even stronger and we’ll have a more mature, race savvy horse next prep.

‘He’s pulled up terrific, that’s how I know that it’s not the end of him yet.’

We’re so happy with the way he’s going, he keeps on impressing us.

He keeps stepping up and it’s great to get a Saturday winner.
