Estijaab crowned Champion Two-Year-Old

Estijaab (Snitzel x Response)

Estijaab was crowned the season’s Champion Two-Year-Old at the Australian Horse of the Year awards ceremony in Melbourne on Thursday, October 4th.

We were over the moon the way she came and won that race, it was just a wonderful feeling.

Any award gives you a great thrill and this is one of them.

Emirates Park director Shalabh Sahu quoted in a Racing.com article by Kate Watts

The Emirates Park-owned filly is a half-sister to Quilly Park’s second season stallion De Gaulle who stands at Bombora Downs Stud.

Estijaab won two of three lead-up starts for trainer John Hawkes before going on to win the $3.5 million Golden Slipper at Rosehill, the world’s richest two-year-old race.

At the ceremony the connections of Winx were presented with the coveted ‘Australian Racehorse of the Year’ award.

The Champion Three-Year-Old Colt or Gelding award went to Trapeze Artist and Shoals was awarded Champion Three-Year-Old Filly.
