Listed win for Mystyko at Moonee Valley

Mystyko won the Listed Ranvet Abell Stakes over 1,200m at Moonee Valley by 3/4 of a length on Friday, March 15th under Craig Williams.

Trainer Trevor Rogers has been taking his time with our our home-bred Plan the Peace gelding by Sakhee’s Secret.

In his post-race interview with Racing.com, Quilly Park’s Managing Director, Richard Anderson said, ‘Trevor and I are a great partnership, we’ve been together for 10 years and I entrust him with everything.

‘We thought we’d have a throw at the stumps tonight. He can handle Caulfield, he can handle Flemington and now we know he can handle Moonee Valley.’

We always thought Mystyko was going to be a six-year-old.

We’re all excited about seeing what he can do next year.

After the race Jockey Craig Williams said, ‘He was very dominant but he’s still very raw.

‘When you watch him in the straight, you watch him wobble out to the right. Then even late he took a look at the stand and it was quite awkward to maintain his momentum and concentration.

He’s got good ability and he is getting better with age.

Trainer Trevor Rogers is excited by Mystyko’s progress: ‘I am super impressed with the horse in this preparation. He keeps on developing and is improving with every run.

‘It’s nice to know that a quality jockey like Craig Williams feels that there is still more to come and Mystyko is showing me the same. It’s quite exciting!’
